F.S.Blumm - Picking Patterns (art book)

€38.00

mi - so editions #08

Art book,
numbered edition of 65 copies
40 pages, 13.9 x 19.7cm
Hand bound with recycled cardboard and bookcloth,
embossed logo on the back
6-colour risoprint by we make it in Berlin on uncoated paper,
plus Japanese end paper

These works on paper were created
as drafts for record-covers.
The music hadn't been produced yet,
but it was meant to be light and playful,
brightening, uplifting ..
and the artwork was meant to be formed in the same way:
light-handed and rather incidentally.
That's why these miniatures were created quickly and with deliberately reduced control:
F.S.Blumm only half-watched,
squinted, and always produced as many sheets of paper simultaneously as possible.
No corrections, not getting hung up on anything: either accepting the result or throwing it away.
"Picking Patterns" means both: the ostinato patterns of the right hand while playing the acoustic guitar and the picking-up of visual repetitions.
(Frank Schültge)

The book is printed with Risograph technique and comes hand bound in the typical Sonic Pieces style, using the same materials as on the record covers.
